I have so many opportunities ahead and 2014 is getting off to a busy start! And for most of them , I would love your support! In the next couple of weeks, I will be assisting well-known sculptor Paris Alexander during a rock carving class at the North Carolina Museum of Art. What a dream come true! This class is sold out, but i hope to do more of them with Paris in the future. For practice, I started carving the stone you see above. It's a Raleigh skyline in Alabaster. I'll be sure to post the final product. You can also see some video as it came to life on my YouTube channel.
I have 2 events in February and would be so excited if all my friends and family in the area could come! The first is the Raw Raleigh Artists Showcase at Lincoln Theater on February 6th. It's going to be a night of art, fashion, music, film and more! Tickets are $15 each and you can get them here. I promise it will be a good time! Then, I will be the featured artist at First Friday at London Bridge Pub on Hargett Street on February 7th. You can see the commercial projects I did for them, like the Christopher Walk-in cooler, as well as my original art. First Friday is always free. Plus, London Bridge has a great patio out back! I am also working on a commissioned piece, which is a bit of a secret I can't let out yet! I'll keep you posted on other upcoming events as I get them squared away! Thanks for all of your support thus far!

I recently had the pleasure of creating several projects for London Bridge Pub on Hargett Street in downtown Raleigh. The owner, Darren, said he wanted to have artwork in all the booths at the pub. I took the challenge and created designs reflective of the pub's atmosphere. I then took my designs and with the help of Signs by Tomorrow, put them on a 3M material that could be installed onto the backs of the booths. You can see below how they turned out. Lately, I have seen people getting their pictures made with these as the backdrop! It's fun to see them enjoying my art. Darren later asked me to do something similar on the walk-in cooler you can see as
you head to the back patio. It's their "Christopher Walk-in Fridge" and this was the most fun I have ever had with a project. It features tons of Christopher Walken photos and a couple of shameless self-promotions (I couldn't help it!). If you get a chance to see it in person, take a moment to look at all the little details. I bet you'll see something different every time you look! **UPDATE: Through 12/20/13, get all of Dink's art, vintage Raleigh cards and prints for 25% at cimos Books and Gifts at 111 E. Hargett Street in downtown Raleigh. I have been the resident artist there for a couple of months and we will move everything out this weekend to make way for other artists. Look for Dink's art to be in other downtown locations for January's First Friday.** Last week, we had a First Friday show at cimos and this is the video from the event. The last painting you see in the video that looks like an x-ray of a woman's foot in a high heel was sold. I have had so many requests for it, I plan to do more just like it. You can still buy my art, holiday cards and Raleigh t-shirts in cimos through the end of the month. After that, Dink's Art will move to other First Friday venues. It's hard to believe, but it's already time to get cranking for some Spring festivals, too! I'm also working on a few commissioned pieces. Stay tuned! |
